If you started from Dunham then you should have headed generally S/SE/SW into Cheshire, it's lovely. North from there is the worst possible way to go

Bikes not being allowed is probably to prevent 10kg of metal flying down the tram in the event of an emergency stop. Trains have dedicated bike racks or restraining straps. I don't think they prevent them out of spite.

I'm generally surprised by the lack of accommodation for bikes on public transport. Disappointed really. There are more cyclists than ever and yet the notion that bikes are a nuisance persists. Imagine how "joined up" commuting could be if bikes were allowed on trains, buses and trams. I'm sure it never used to be this bad, especially on trains.

You should see the state of the roads near the airport cable tv and the metro extension have completely turded them up
