I mentioned to someone that the Olympic Breakfast at Little Chef it top notch and they thought I was mad.

Just out of interest I had a look and they have quite a good site www.little-chef.co.uk/ very handy for planning pit stops

But very amusing for 44 Glastonbury goers to walk into the Litte Chef in Shepton Mallet en masse demanding cake and fine wine a la Withnail.

They're supposed to give you as much coffee and toast as you want if you order a breakfast, but they seem to loose their sense of humour after about 2 hours.

has anyone ever found any fish, as opposed to air, in their scampi?

Little Chef has IMO gone well downhill over the last couple of years – they used to do top-notch grub at a decent price – especially the Early Starter

But since being sold by Forte they've gone downhill fast. The prices have gone through the roof (even if my kids still ove 'em) and the service is crap.

Mind you I'm supposed to be on this health-fad thingy at the mo, so the Chicken Tikka (£6.95 from memory) had gone for a burton for the present.

Last week I had some kind of pasta with mushroom sauce, nice but expensive.

Who's knows where the first Little Chef was located?

The Ridgeway, presumably to get trade from passing invading Romans...

I can't believe that some of you chaps are saying you enjoy eating this stuff, it is the most appalling filth known to man. If you really have to eat deep fried cardboard then pop round my place and the lass will do it for half the price.

To be honest I would rather eat the contents of my hounds' rectal canal. Both of them.

Last time I visited one, they'd stopped doing the all-you-can-eat toast offer.

Last time I ate at the Little Chef was 5 years ago. Can't remember what it was I had. All I recall is that I didn't recognise the taste when I had it, it was dreadful. But the last straw was finding a fistfull of someones hair in it part way through. I walked out and have never returned. Disssssgusting!

All these fast food places are dodgy and full of annoying jobs-worths. Your better off with a healthy baguette.

I just said I would rather as opposed to will and seeing as the chances of me stepping into a Little Chef are nil I reckon I'm safe. Anyway stop it or Ted will tell us off

I still say you cant beat the Olympic, as for sevice there always empty on the rare occations I do eat there so no probs. I sometimes stop at a Little Chef halfway back from a karting event usually knackered and dont have the enegy to cook when I get in.

The LC breakfasts can be very variable, I had some great ones and some I'd rather forget. (Best near Brecon..worst Chillwell Valley services last month).

I used to love having breakfast on the London-Brum and London-Leicester trains pre privatisation, has anybody experiece of rail breakfasts post the great sell off?
