A bit full on for role - but looks copied from a GCSE paper... 2min question though. Probably a basic test of "can this applicant see though the crap and see the basic maths"?

Am I being thick, but don`t you need to know the radius of the larger circle to work that out?

Oh! Hang on just looked at the link...Yep, I´m thick! I think I simplified it.

Pi X r squared. I would just subtract the area of the small circle from the large one. But you need r. The rest is easy. But I can´t figure out if there is some over complicated way they want you to do it.
Anyway, to answer your question, I haven´t come across that in an interview. Not the type of question they ask me when being interviewed for a yachting job smile

Then I´d pick the phone up, and ask the client what the dia. of the circle is wink

imagine the smaller circle was in the middle of the bigger one, the answer is pi x 4.5 squared

was thinking of diameter of a bigger circle , which would just be 2pi x 4.5

yeah, you need R

so pi(r+4.5)² - pi r²

Moon = 63.64 cm2

Double sided = 127.28 cm2

250 sq m = 19,642 moons

100,000 moons = 5.092 litres

5.092 litres = £1,018.40

You're the only person I would employ. In the real world you want someone who is happy to put their hand up and ask for the relevant information. If a customer raised a large order with such cryptic information, the first thing to do is get them to clarify exactly what they want.

When we are recruiting, we design our tests so the people need to ask for help. We make it very clear that help is available by phoning me and that we are testing how they would actually work in the office. I've never employed anyone who doesn't ask questions about the test.

You don't need to know the diameter of either circle, you just need to know what the difference is - it's 9cm.

So the difference in the radius of each circle is 4.5cm.

From that you can work out the area of the moon.

Have they missed a value off? There seems to be no purpose to the point marked "A" - they've referenced all the other points in the question, but not that one.
