Hi all, I'm considering removing the manifolds to get them zircotec coated (for heat management).
I've read a few snippets (eg PetrolHeadPete's head rebuild guide)that indicates exhaust manifold removal (and refit) in situ is a pig of a job on a Tuscan ..
Anybody here done it and can offer any further tips ? and is it do-able (with patience) as an engine in place job ...for a DIY mechanic ...

Thx for any help .
have fun
Matt

Well I found it a pig of a job even with the engine out!! mad
I had to cut down a couple of Allen keys to get the bolts out. Get a cheap set to grind down and a decent set with ball ends on.

I was surprised there are no exhaust gaskets or is it just mine?

Thx , I believe they don't have gaskets ..(i was looking for them to buy in preparation).....some seem to use a high temp silicone ..?

I'll buy another set of hex keys just in case ....

One to avoid me thinks!

Cut down keys, ball end keys and plenty of WD a week before. There are a couple that are best left till last for the last resort, take the cats off and wiggle the manifold if all else fails, just to loosen the last bolt. You will need to be above and below to stand a fighting chance.

The seal is high temp silicone.

Good luck,

J
