What tyres choice is everyone using for the wet winter days.

Just looking for some new tyres for my all mountain ride and ive used the same ones for last few years (high rollers) but they are now past it and wanting to get a decent tyre for my bike ! I do a bit of riding in the woods and get to trail centres as well ! I know they are totally different riding surfaces but what do you find suits both or any ideas ??? I used to have loads of tyres for different weather conditions but ended up doing my head in with the constant changes ! Its probs best to get used to a certain tyre do you think ?
the 62a compound from Maxxis is available in a few tread patterns and worth a look. It works well on the better drying man made trails but is good for natural environments too. Have a look at the Ardent and the Ignitor. To be honest, pressure seems to be as much a factor as tread on some days!
t bit not used them in years.I know very little about MTB tyres. I know only slightly more about the bikes themselves. This thread interests me, so I'm posting in it early so it comes up in the 'My stuff' search when I look at 'what's new'.
For what it's worth, my GT Avalanche 3.0 was on Kenda Nevegal tyres when I got it. My eldest son swapped his Nevegals out for some road-oriented tyres for his Uni commute, so when mine wore out I replaced them with "same again" tyres off his bike. My only other off road experiences have been on really cheap rubber, and not very good.
The Nevegals ride OK around here when it's dry, plenty of sandy heathland, well drained soil, and carpets of pine needles in the woods. Yesterday I went out after a night's rain, and the bike was squirming around quite a bit where it remained wet, but was good on the well-drained sections. I know a better bike (or at least a better fork) would help, but I'd like to find a good 'all-rounder' tyre that'll ride well in most conditions locally. The Maxxis CrossMark looks like a capable tyre, and fairly similar to my Kendas, but I worry about making a potentially expensive mistake when it comes to buying new rubber.

Maxxis beaver on the rear, high roller super tacky on the front. Tried the beaver last winter after reading rave reviews and ended up just leaving it on all year.
Last time I tried a different front tyre to a high roller the front end washed out leading to an epic face plant. I stick to what I know now.

It is getting something you can trust ! Ive heard about then new high rollers and are suppose to be better ! My front is the super tacky 42a I think it is and it has lasted well but its now past the decent days. You hear of loads of different peoples opinions of tyres and I know there are different riding styles but since I last bought some a few years ago there are so many new one out and they are gonna be better as there is no point making things that don't grip from the leading tyre manufacturers !
heard good things about the black chilli compound contis. I have the showroon edition of the x-kings that came with the bike and they are lethal over wet roots, but fine in a sraight line, even in pretty thick mud, so i'll probably try black chilli x-kings this winter, like you, I can't be arsed swapping tyres each weekend depending on what bbc weather says
