Quite a few of the independent garages say that if you tell them what car you're looking for, they'll find it for you. I'm fed up of hunting around for a flatnose, so am considering using one or more of these guys. I've never done this before and if there are some pitfalls to this approach I'd appreciate knowing them beforehand.

Thanks

I've noticed most places that stock rare models only get LHD versions - how annoying.

The only pitfall is that you may end up paying more for the car than if you find it yourself.

I'd also make sure you/re not under any obligation to buy, just in case you aren't happy with the car.

I could be wrong but UV knows someone who used a broker to find him a car and the car ended up coming from a specialist at a reduced price than the original place had it advertised at. May be worth a try.

Car is going very well (frightening sometimes!!). I have covered about 700 miles since I bought it and I have no complaints, even the dealer has been on the phone to ensure I am happy.

I was thinking of changing the exhaust as I would like a different sounding system. Send me a mail if you want to meet up and go for a spin.

Where did you get your 993tt from? I have seen a couple at OPC but they are quite steeply priced. Just interested, even though I am pretty sure that the 996 C2/4 is the route for me, as I quite fancy a test drive in a 993tt before making my final decision

Cheers

I wouldn't go for a test drive unless your happy to change your mind. After a blat in UV's T2 I've had trouble sticking to the idea of a sensible, cheap to run C2, even an upgraded one. Power corrupts!

Turbofree's 993tt was from Chiswick AFN, and is in quite a unique colour for the car - riviera blue. Lovely example, and AFN gave good service at a reasonable price from what I gather.

Try searching at the official porsche.com website for UK dealer stock. There are a few 993tts kicking about still.

On the flat nose front I would give a broker a ring rather than use an independent garage.

On the C2 v 993tt just get the turbo, they are sooooo much fun. Can't be bother to list all the reasons why just trust me on this one.

As Domster says I bought the car from AFN in Chiswick. Both the pre and after sales service have been excellent although I did pay top dollar for the car.

To give you an example of the service one or two of the wheels had little marks on them, not huge scratches not even really visible but the dealer wanted to put them right.

About 3 months ago I bought a 993 C2 from an independent dealer and the service I received was OK but just OK if you get my meaning. If I am honest the reason I changed the car so quickly was I always wanted a Turbo and kind of regretted not buying so I just took the plunge and bought it. As UV would say just do it!

Glad I asked. Can anyone tell me how I find a broker (he asked with a faint 'groundhog day' feeling...)

Thanks
