Accidental death cover - Providers? Questions?
Discussion
Morning all,
Does anyone have experience of accidental death insurance policies - who are decent providers, how likely they are to pay or try to weasel out of it and so on?
At present, the only provider I've been able to find whom I actually recognise is Aviva, who provide cover of £150k for £15.99 per month, but was wondering if there's anyone else to look at?
To provide the full background of why I'm trying to find specific accidental death cover as opposed to traditional life insurance, my wife is a type 1 diabetic with a couple of pre-existing complications. This makes any life insurance which includes cover for health-related conditions carries totally unrealistic monthly premiums starting in the region of £200 for that £150k cover.
Needless to say, I very much hope my wife doesn't die, and the only realistic course of action on the health side is for her to stay as healthy and well-managed from a diabetic point of view as she can, but there's nothing you can do to mitigate against freak accidents, so I'd rather buy a bit of piece of mind, given that the premiums for this seem affordable where nobody wants to touch her with a bargepole for traditional life cover.

Many providers don't offer it as it's a poor product in honesty.
Although type 1 is not liked by underwriters, there are 3 insurance companies I feel are more favourable for this type of condition.
Maybe it's worth reducing the sum assured or term to get the premium down.
Pm me if you want me to look at any quotes for you, as we are in contact with the underwriters every day.
