My 2005 156 JTDM 150 has an intermittent 'buzzer' noise.
When applying the brakes firmly, there is a high pitched electrical buzzer noise that comes on, then disappears when the pedal is released. There are no warning lights coming up on the display. This does not happen when I tried slowing the car using only the handbrake; there was the usual warning for 'handbrake on/low fluid level'on the info display, but no 'buzzer' sound.

Is there anything else that could be causing this ?

I have considered the fluid level test sensor on the top of the brake reservoir, but as the warning for this does not show I have discounted this. Is there a coolant level warning on my car ? or could it be something to do with a brake pad sensor wire ( the pads/discs are fine )
Or is it just one of those 'Alfa characteristics' ?

I can't remember there being any buzzers to go off.
Have you checked there's not something random switched on in the info centre?

Has someone left a mobile phone under the seat?

Hi, just been out for a couple of test drives. and after doing a few 'hard stops', the 'problem' seems to have sorted itself. It was an intermittent electrical buzzing sound which happened when applying the brakes firmly, but after some rigorous braking to attempt to replicate the conditions,it does not do it now. So I shall just put it down to one of those Alfa quirks.

Mine makes what soounds like a similar high pitched squeaking when indicating left. In time with the indicators. Not always, just sometimes. My missus gives me a funny look if she hears it

I look at her, nod knowingly, tap the side of my nose and whisper

"Alfa mice"

Hope this helps
