£40k more than my fully checked out 12000 mile 996 GT3 CS now at JZM.
Is it really worth that?
Would value some opinion here as a 996 GT2 is on my shopping list at some point...

That's what they are today, you missed the boat, last week they were only half that, too bad...
You can have mine however for a hugely discounted 80k for quick sale....
(bonkers price IMO though in a few years it wouldn't surprise me because they are amazing and rare and the last of the hairy chested hero cars)
SM
eta: GT3s are not rare, although unsure about CS.

It's not really about missing the boat as happy to pay the going rate for whatever I want at the time and for sure if it's a genuine car it probably is worth it.You can have mine however for a hugely discounted 80k for quick sale....

Just not so sure that it's worth £40k more than a pretty rare 996 GT3 CS with same ultra low miles... maybe the market says otherwise.

I believe the 996 gt2 has a long way to rise in value ! Being 1 of 116 uk cars makes it super rare and a very special car,
They truly are amazing cars, even compared to my turbo before it I couldn't believe the difference.Last weekend I tried an M3 since my boring car is on its last legs, it was great to drive. I know it's not a natural Gt2 competitor but boy did my car feel special driving home from the dealer. actually it brought it home to me a bit just how incredible these things are.

'Super rare' @ 116 UK cars...Where does this put the 997 GT2 with only around half that number built?? And if you look at the 997 GT2 club sport spec cars with only 16 ordered/built - now that has to be considered super super rare. With the 997 GT2 RS seemingly fetching crazy money the standard 997 GT2 has to be the current Porsche 'sleeper' re values...
I own one of the even rarer 996 GT2 CS, not sure there is an official figure for numbers of these but I'm putting it at around 12. The last low mileage one of these on here went at circa £80k a few months back and sold very quickly... They have climbed steadily this year in value.
Mine is now 18,000 miles, I am third owner full Main Porsche service history every year, no paint ever and I would put the value currently at £70 something.....
To me they are an epic car, cannot compare to the 997GT2, it has the nanny aids a completely different feel and if you are into modifying a much trickier control system and turbos to deal with, so it you want the ability for 700+bhp and want purity of drive go for the 996 gt2 and get yourself a Club Sport if you can.
Not sure they will ever be held alongside an F40 but underated, understated and typical german bomb proof engineering.
Amazing......

I agree you can't compare the 6 GT2 to the 7 GT2..IMO the 7 is far far more superior and special in everyway. Having driven and owned a few of each model I always felt the 6 was a lighter/faster 996 turbo (which it is) with ok handling but the 7 felt more like an RS with bolted on extreme mental pace..Owned a 7 GT3 RS and loved it but was never challenged by the speed. The 7 GT2 for me still has 99% of the RS handling but also is insanely and worryingly fast.
The lack of intervention if things get out of control on the 6 GT2 does not tick any boxes in my book and if I did hold the necessary skill level to 'dance with the devil' on oversteer I could always press the 'guardian angel' button on the 7 GT2

That's a can of worms well and truly open now 911Bianca
I've owned both and still have a 997, the cars are very different but both have their own appeal, I wouldn't say either is better but for 85k I know where my money would go.

Ah. The old 'my car is better than yours' arguement... With the 997 GT2 RS seemingly fetching crazy money the standard 997 GT2 has to be the current Porsche 'sleeper' re values...

Chaps, it's my car in the advert. I don't want to get involved about the merits of a 997 GT2 against a 996 GT2 or values compared to a GT3 etc, they are completely different cars with considerable differences in driving characteristics and prices when new.
It's a pretty rare car with less than 100 registered or sorn in the UK, has a very low mileage and is almost in new condition the fact it's 11 years old is not reflected in it's condition.
Good advertised cars seem to have sold at this price recently and the market is catching on to this "supercar". If someone is genuinely looking for a very very good low mileage example of this car then it ticks the boxes, cheaper cars are out there for sale for sure but with higher mileage and not as in good condition.
This car wants for nothing, new rads, condensers and tyres have all been fitted along with air intake grills even has the paint protection film.

Any questions drop me a PM.

Any car is worth as much as someone wants to pay for it good luck to him if he gets near the asking price.
They are on the up as any good GT model we have to forget what they were worth a year or so ago. Everyone had the chance to buy when at lower prices in the past.
They are what they are now and going up all the time so no point looking for that bargain theres no such thing as a cheap GT model if its cheap there a good reason.
I could have bought a 964RS for a qualter of todays values few years back no point crying over what might have been.
Buy a good one enjoy it and if you can make a nice profit I say good luck.
God knows I have lost thousands on cars in the past.

There're 2 in the classified for less money than this one.
997 GT2s are under valued rather than the 996 GT2s being over, Porsche ditching the Mezger gave 997 GTs special status overnight whereas in a more "normal" Porsche classic market the 997 GTs would have to be around for 10-15 years before their heightened (price wise) status became accepted. The 997GT2 as has been pointed out will turn out to be very sought after due to its rarity, they built more Carrera GTs than 997GT2s !! There're 2 in the classified for less money than this one.
Porsche is building a different kind of 911 now for the modern consumer market, all Mezger 911s (that would be essentially every pre 996 model 911 plus 996 GTs and 997 GTs) will be considered classic Porsches

Pricing seems a bit high considering left-hand drive cars are much cheaper for less mileage:
US Car @ 46k GBP http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/porsche-996-g...
Italian Car @ 63k GBP http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/porsche-996-g...
Is a right-hand drive car worth an extra 40k?

This is extremely interesting. My only point is the whole low millage debate. I have picked up a 65K miles GT3 and now a 80K miles GT2 both have been inspected and maintained to top condition and have full supporting history files.
I think it is a shame to garage these cars up as an investment. They should be driven and looked after.
Buying a low millage one you can only destroy value by driving it. Where as the higher mileage well looked after versions I think make a better choice.
