Apparantly Brand Synergy the "saviours" of the British GP have lodged an interest with HSBC who are handling the sale of the Jaguar Formula One Racing Team.

Nige is of course involved with Brand Synergy and could be the figurehead.

Tha man himself may have been pretty ghastly but he didn`t half brighten up that period of Formula One. Fantastic driver...

Thats my point , he was a good driver in The car of the day , but he never ever once stopped his bloody whining and complaining for 1 second

He put in some fantastic performances in poor cars too, such as the Williams Judd. He always gave 110%, was always great to watch and when you compare him to the likes of DC and JV...

Agree, whilst you may not want 'our Nige' as your diner party guest he was a great DRIVER. He gave 110% every time, one speed = flat out and take no prisoners, shame there is no-one even approaching his level of committment currently in F1. More people might watch and Jaguar may not be in the position they're in now, all IMHO of course.
Bottom line, it can only be good for the sport if he is part of a take over of Stuart/Jaguar/?? IMHO.

I always wonder if ex-formula one drivers would make good Team Managers.... I really thought Prost would do a good job but...No it was a mess.

New Teams always seem to underestimte the job at hand.... Are we to expect another underachiever.. I hope not...Nigel M might have been a fighter in the car but I cannot imagine him running a team...unless they bring a manager from F3 or something to support.

And yet the oposite was true for Jackie Stewart and look what happened after he sold out to Ford!

Slightly O/T, but doesn't our Nige look odd without the 'tache?

Yes, I think it's because the 'tache balanced out his megs eyebrows, but he does look strange without it.

I don't think he can get it to match the colour of his dyed hair anymore.

Which could be a benefit to him as a team boss IMHO. He'd be a hard man to work for, but the Jaguar team could do with a kick in the behind.

He has already managed a team, in the early 1990's he had Mansell Madgewick Motorsport and ran Paul Warwick (Derek Warwick's younger brother) in F3000, unfortunately Paul was killed at Oulton Park, I think that tragedy might have understandably kept him away from doing it till now.

I don`t think noige actually managed anything within Mansell Madgwick though. More of a public appearance thing.

But, Jag is not a new team. Also, Nigel has had a good deal of management experience starting and running his golf/country club in Devon - not quite an F1 team but nevertheless experience. Added to his obvious experience in the sport and determination, he's probably as well-equipped as anyone (finances aside).

I always thought Prost would be one of the few who could transfer to a management role. More fool me.

No-one ever thought Nigel would be a successful Grand Prix driver, yet he turned out alright. People thought he`d never make the transition to ChampCars, he did alright there as well. Stranger things have happened and at least it would add a bit of fun back (just think of the things he`s likely to come out with !!!!)
