Help - electrics prob!!!

This is the thing...

1992 Rover Mini Cooper - When driving at night with the lights on they gradually get dimmer and the wipers slow down to almost nothing. I have a smiths volt meter dial which goes in the red. But when driving in the day everything is dandy. Alternator? Battery? A short curcuit? Help?

Check your fan belt. Sounds like the Alternator could be on the way out. When you switch on the electrics it just can't supply enough power.

Also check the various earth straps.
