Actually, most people like a nice Porsche. My favourite hobby is to hold back with plenty of space between the car in front and me until they notice. When they do and they pull in they are expecting you to go past noisily.
It's rare that you receive any negativity from other road users . . . . . . . although any aggravation seems to come from, well BMW drivers. I'm a previous 330D Sport Touring driver so find it 'understandable'.

Pretty sure it's the right model for me (I have received an education from the ever helpful Mr Pearce / Stirlings) hence my 18-month long procrastination could be drawing to an endCan't say I've noticed people behaving any differently towards me around town, I get let out, I don't get let out, seems about normal (came from BMW, which I still have for comparison).
It's mostly positive reaction, certainly no-one ever commented 'nice car' at the lights, pumps etc in the BMW.
I do get the odd muppet trying to prove their car is faster in a 30mph limit and rarely kids trying to goad me (pulling out alongside, aborting overtakes etc).
Nothing major. I suppose it adds to the occasion!

Probably was an urban legend with some truth to it many years ago, but today with so many about it is more about your own conduct than anything else. Be respectful and others will be respectful of you.

Even though I only drive a lowly Boxster 981S, I have received frequent positive reactions, including people circling around it at petrol stations and car parks. The French seem the most enthusiastic, with frequent thumbs up and smiles. But, yes, they will then also race you up a hill in their Renault 4... (they sometimes win!!)
Negatives: yes, if you do anything slightly wrong, you might get blasted - I foolishly blocked a junction recently, and was treated to "bloody Porsche owners think they can do what they like". But this has been rare.
I only had one incident in the first week I had the car - some idiot refusing to let me through when I was already halfway the a hill on a narrow road, with cars parked blocking my side of the road. He appeared at the top of the hill and refused to move. Sat there and and switched his engine off. d

Aside from that, no problems whatsoever. I get let out of junctions fairly quickly usually. There are some people who never let anyone out, regardless what car you're in, and that'll never change!
