Mudguards? For my single speed

Can't decide which mudguards to get for the coming winter months. I've got Crud catcher road racer 2s on my road bike and they're great but a bit fragile - I'm on my third set and I've got to the point where I watch them on ebay just to make sure I have a spare set... The problem with the single speed is the horizontal drop outs /flip flop rear wheel - it's a self built BSA frame so they aren't rear facing track drop outs but even so, it's a potential pain in the event of a puncture (crud catchers do not like removal / refit). I like the look of SKS raceblades- clip on, light, not too ugly (I like the uncluttered look of the singlespeed) but are they effective enough for proper commuting every day? Alternatively, SKS raceblade long? Obviously more effective but more of a pain for reasons outlined above?
Any other recommendations/ suggestions gratefully received. (Budget is an issue - I am not a company director/ well built / goatee beard etc)

Have a set of fitted sks mudguards on my single speed. They have a quick release thingy should you need to remove the rear.
