Which road tyres for my MTB (commuting on road)?

So my main riding now, at least 90%, is on the road. I may as well chuck tyres suited to the purpose on! My current tyres are dying with all the road work, too.

The plan is to commute year round, so some tyres which can deal with that would be good. Price is a big consideration, but will pay more for something tangibly better. Not sure if weight really matters with the weight of my bike (and me), but lighter the better I suppose.

I currently have Schwalbe Rapid Rob 26x2.1". I'm considering switching to Schwalbe City Jet 26x1.5". Do these look a sensible tyre for around the £12 mark? Is there better? Should I be looking at a different tyre?

For commuting IMO you want to sacrifice some weight for puncture resistance..
Not sure what is best on 26 inch wheels though - think when I was commuting on my mtb I had spec all condition pro's on...

I definitely want to avoid punctures. It'll cost me more than it's worth! I do only cycle 3.5 miles though.

Shame I don't have a Decathlon near me, as that is a bargain!

I've found the City Jets for £10 each, so might give them a bash. They look like they review well.

So, since I'll be riding in a lot of wet weather, I'm thinking something like this may be better. They'd also give more flexibility for some off-road riding.

They're too expensive for a trial run, and whilst I liked the reflective sides, I couldn't see what else they offered really. I like the idea of the Michelins as they'll allow me to use the same inner tubes too - I think!

They last ages, don't puncture and roll brilliantly while being able to cope with light mud
