Hi Guys,

I need some help re-acquainting my Tuscan with its speed six engine after an illicit affair with a Ford 302 engine as mentioned in this post:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The problem I've got is that the garage who started the conversion lost(or used on other cars)the spare parts and I can't remember how it all goes back together!

Can someone show me a picture of how the Alternator, PS, Air con are mounted and which tensioner brackets go where?

Which sensor is mounted just above the coil pack? I presume the water temp is just above the alternator? What about the feed just above the engine mounting bracket- oil pressure?

Thanks

The sensor above the coil pack is the water temp sender.

I'll see if I can dig out a picture for you.

Is this any good

Thanks that's a great start. Maybe I should post a picture of the bare block and see if everyone can fill in the blanks....

1-> Water Temp Sensor
2-> Thermistor
3-> ??
4-> Bolt for what?
5-> Oil Pressure sender?
6-> Oil hose to ?
7-> Oil hose to ?

Does anyone know what size bolts hold the flywheel on to the engine?

I've got hundreds of pics of my engine bay as I took it all apart. Happy to send you through photos if you can PM me your email address.
Cheers,
Martin
P.s. wouldn't it be cool if someone could build a website with a home page with a plan, side and end views of a Tuscan and then people could pin onto it pics that they have taken. Something similar to the way google maps works when people upload pics they have taken of a location. Anyone know how to do this?

Number 6 is oil hose to oil/water cooler at the front nearside of engine. I think number 7 goes to the top side of the oil tank.

1-> Water Temp Sensor
2-> Thermistor
3-> Holds angled bracket to secure airbox
4-> Bolt for earth wires
5-> Oil Pressure sender
6-> Oil hose to cooler
7-> Oil hose to catch tank (the pipe is on backwards as shown...should run under steering UJ and up to top tank fitting)

3 is also the AC bracket mount if fitted. There is also an earth, from the engine harness, by the crank sensor

Thanks guys, that's helped a lot.

I've realised I'm missing the large A/C front pulley and the A/C mounting bracket that would be fitted to no.3. Managed to locate a Pulley but it's a lot of money and I may have to fabricate something to replace the mounting bracket. rolleyes

Tried a few different bolts to fit the flywheel to the engine and it seems to be either M10 fine thread or 3/8 UNF. Definitely, not standard M10 or 3/8 UNC.

I've managed to get the A/C pulley and bracket for about £50.

It pays to phone around!

Does anyone know if anything is attached to the threaded hole just below no.4(earth wires) and just above the engine bracket?

Got a quote to have the flywheel lightened and balanced for £132, seems quite a lot. It needs re-facing anyway so I might get it done....scratchchin

Also, received the Bellhousing today....didn't realise how tiny it was compared to the Mustang one I was using. It has two fittings for the slave cylinder- I presume one goes to bulkhead and the other is a bleed nipple?

Wishing I had a copy of the Orange bible......

Think nothing in hole beneath 4.

Don't forget bleed nipple is connected on the end of hose that runs to a bracket connected to the starter.

Bugger....realised that the Slave cylinder is a Raceproved unit which is missing the release bearing. irked

I'd thought it was a standard unit and could get a new bearing fitted. Have had to send it back to Raceproved to see if they can refurbish it.

Got the A/C pulley and bracket now. And the Clutch bleed pipe.

The Flywheel to Crank bolts are M10 fine thread.

Hi graham,
While you have easy access to your engine can I be cheeky and get you to measure how deeply set the spark plugs are. My current compression tester is for the wrong size plugs. The ones I'm looking at have a 300mm length to the gauge. Looking to order one for the weekend.

Hi Matt,

I'll have a look tonight. Pretty sure that's more than long enough but will double check.

The compression tester adaptor I've got is just over 200mm long and that fits fine.

Bad news, the Raceproved Slave cylinder can't be refurbished so I have to buy a whole new slave cylinder. Seems annoying you can't replace the individual parts so I think I'm going to buy Powers slave.

Can anyone tell me what torque to tighten the flyheel to crank bolts and the follower shaft plugs?
