Looking good RR. Is the new one everything you'd hoped for as far as the drive goes? As I know the 964 was a very special build also.
I noticed the 964 had sold when I was browsing the classifieds the other day. Congratulations. I was very interested about a year ago and tried to start the haggling at £33k with a view to going a little higher, but iirc you wanted mid-£40k's. Anyway, I'm glad you got your sale.

Its a gulf blue, '72 car - the last car was mint green - I think the brighter colours suit the car and heah aren't they supposed to be fun?It's taken 18 months to rebuild. It had been nastily RS'd by the previous owner so its had, new steel panels (wings/bonnet/lid) - they were previously GRP. Any rot present was dealt with and a full glass out respray, new seals everywhere. All the chrome (headlamps, rear grill, horn covers, door handles) and anodising has been redone. ST front bumper.
I kept the lightweight interior, added a 300kph speedo and 10k rev gauge. Full brake refurb and new calipers, hoses, new pedal box as it wasn't original. Dash and door cappings in Alcantara. Lots of other new bits along the way - oil cooler, oil lines, tidied up the engine bay, braided hoses throughout. The Fuch's are original and that look lovely now they've been refurbed properly.
It's running a 915 box, with a wevo short shifter. The engine is great - a 3 litre running webers, I junked the heater and heat exchangers - added a heated front screen. Gives about 220 bhp and it's light, bit of fun!

I've not driven it for 18 months. My first and only drive was picking it up when I bought it. I drove from Devon to Lincolnshire - with the inevitable breakdown on the M5 due to the alternator packing up! I'm getting it weighed, should be well below a 1,000 kg. . 220 in a light car , should go really well 8)as I say to a lot of early car owners driving their cars for the 1st time out of a resto .. don't be surprised if you're slightly underwelmed ... there are always set ups that need tweeking etc + early cars take a few decent drives for you to really appreciate what they are about .. also I think expectations get built up during the waiting time .
Im running just under 220 in a relatively heavy 2.4S and when it comes on cam it flies .. no way near as quick as modern porsche in terms of speed ... but much quicker in the sensation of speed Its the one car I've kept over all the years where as many others have come & gone. Always my 1st choice of car for fun blasts out & european touring

I'm not expecting it to be as quick as my 964 or my 993, just a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to getting the hang of it - I'm a fairly sedate driver so I'm not so concerned about out and out speed.
