myself and a couple of friends are thinking of entering a few races in this series next year.

Anyone heard of it / have any experience of it??

we are thinking of SPA 24 hours, and maybe donington and one other.

gets reasonable coverage in the motorsport press. always appears to be close racing though i think its very competitive at the top end. seems like a good championship for amateurs wanting the endurance racing experience. certainly havent heard any bad things about it! as with most things, best bet is to get to the autosport show in january and seek out the organisers and have a look at the cars etc...

I've fancied a go at this. the spa 25 looks very reasonable cost as well.

Im sure Leigh Lewis ( Steve Lewis's Lad) did the rockingham round recently i'll see if i can get him to post.

one thing though i would do 1 or 2 of the uk rounds first, and im sure the uk cars are a lower spec than the european so you will be at the back in the 25, but then 25hours of racing is more about survival than winning

I did the Spa 25 Hour race two years ago and a mate of mine did the full season. Strange qualifying format shafted us, so we qualified 54th'ish but in evening practice after qualifying when we knew the car and track better we were 7th quickest out of 118 cars entered each with between 3 and 10 drivers in them.

The cars are not quick but huge fun, they drift into corners so nicely. The racing is mega specially at fast tracks because the cars are so un aero dynamic towing is essential. During 6 hours driving at Spa no more than a lap and a half was spent on my own. If you are out on your own you will get caught, when your caught you go with the tow train to the next slow group until you catch a quick driver caught amoungst the slow ones. Then you tow each other round to the next group and so on.

Tyres last forwever but are way better after about 4 to five hours of use. The wings actualy work, we lost the front splitter after 16hours and could never do anything about a tow after that point and lost on average 2 seconds a lap. The Euro teams in particular are very hot these days. Quick drivers, well organised and well preped cars but still enthusiastic.

Personaly I can't speak highly enough of the cars and the series specially since you can race all over Europe in them at some cracking circuits like Dijon, Monza and Spa.

I agree the racing is fabulous and the people are friendly !
The cars are great fun to drive, you will find you have to work very hard to be fast ! Just like any other race car really !!
The Spa 25hrs was great fun with all the Italian,Belgium,French and UK teams, all the cars are very equal in performance.
Give me a call anytime if you want any help getting started.
