Coolant swirl pot....why have one?
Discussion
......and the older cars, with Rover V8s like an SD1 probably qualifies, have expansion tanks with the radiator - TVR just took your "plastic" expansion tank and put it in a v nice aluminium "swirl pot". Yes, a necessary requirement, but it could just as easily be an SD1-like tank on the inner wing.

Not entirely, the function of a swirl pot is to separate the air from the water by centrifuging the water/air mix so the heavier water goes to the outside where the outlet pipe is and the lighter air stays in the middle and goes up to the top of the tank. The multichamber tank in the cerbera achieves the same end of separating the water and air but without centrifuging the water, so they do the same job but by different methods. End result is the same.
