Have I missed the point here ? Do we know of some software that gives access to the error codes and the adjustable settings ? I currently have an electrical problem with a 530d that so far the dealer has been unable to fix. They tell me that after unplugging some bits it is unnesacarry to “reset” the system so that has put me off of tinkering with it myself. The dealer won’t reveal what software they use to do the “reset” please reveal all if you know of something that is available outside the hallowed ground of the main dealer.

No relation but I would have thought something along this line. Anyone know of any others?

The reset he's talking about is done because some of the bits in your car 'log' errors via a latch system. He can clear them by fixing the fault and then using the computer diagnostic computer to clear the fault code.
You can do the same by fixing the fault and then disconnecting you battery for about twenty minutes. After you have done this the code on your radio will need a reinput, add the idle on the car will run very rough until after its callibration which is about 30 seconds after the car water temperature has gone above 70degc.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that gem of info, very usefull. Same applies to the TVR but the Beemer dealer said otherwise.
No problem. The carsoft software is prohibitive at £1800. Designed mainly for the garage in mind.
Complete disgrace. The software is available from other net sources quite cheaply but the interface cable contains a chip which I have been currently unable to purchase.
But in my travels
www.peakeresearch.com/code_tool.htm
Which seems like the budget version, comes complete with a how to manual depending on the code given.
Anyone tried this?
