Living in Shefield, I'm used to bad road surfaces. However, the main road within 2mins of my house is getting truly ridiculous. It is so bumpy the car almost leaves the ground at 30mph and having recently acquired a TVR I have serious concerns about the effect it may have on suspension.
Is there any way of encouraging the council to do anything about it? It is a main bus route so I thought it would be better maintained???

Yeah noticed it too. Seem to be getting worse nowsday (is it on Eccleshall Road?)

don't know if you can complain to council, if you do - I don't think they will bother

Very few Labour voters in South Sheffield. Very few non Labour councilors on the council. Complain away, but don't expect too much movement.

We just pay for public services on this side of town. Doesn't actually entitle us to any .

I complained to the council on numerous occaisions about the dire state of Sheffield roads. Especially how they seem to find the funds for putting sleeping poicemen everywhere but can't manage to actually surface the roads.

I've had some interesting chats via e-mail with the council as they try to justify the so called speed cushions (the narrow ones) that any normal rep mobile can pass over without noticing and the only vehicles that get slowed down are the small majority (sports cars and rover mini's).

Unfortunatly they seem to have justified to themselves their policy and aren't budging, no such thing as common sense.

If you are going to complain about the state of the roads, make sure you get names and send letters.
If you don't get any joy, contact your MP.
If you damage your car due to poor road surfaces then take pictures of the road and send the repair bill for your car to the council.
I did it and they paid up.
I am currently trying to sort out a problem with blocked gullies on the main road between Addingham roundabout and Ilkley.
Everybody is dodging the issue at the moment but a letter to the local paper and the ABD road safety chap should have the situation sorted soon.

Parkway (daily route to work from M1) used to launch my car (near Big W) and all the way in is very poor for a d.c. main road from the motorway. At least they've removed the ski jump now.

A bit late with this, but totally agree. Caused my back suspension to snap 6 months ago. I slipped up though...should have put a claim in to the council.
