Whatever happened to the British solution - Dim Dips??
They seemed to disappear off new cars about ''97 - but it seemed to vary between makes? My understanding was that this was the only instance when a British Government did not comply with European Directives.
Did Cheesy Tony comply when he came to power, or was it something else??
I'm not a lighting homologation engineer but my understanding was that the UK dim-dip thing was dropped around '97 when requirements came in for whole vehicle type approval in Europe which require adjustable headlamps (not a logical trade off but that's what I heard) Same regs later introduced the CHMSL (centre high mounted stop light) too.
I'm still turning my lights on and off with my wipers......
