Where do people look for Engineering Jobs?

We have been advertising both directly and via agencies for Project and CAD Design engineers and so far have had little success. Years ago (and I mean years ago) it was always Thursday nights Manchester Evening or the Daily Telegraph that was the best place to recruit from - so far we've tried Total Jobs & CV Library.
So throwing the question out to the PH audience; which websites do engineers look to when trying to find new jobs?

We also advertise through Monster and Indeed.com. I don't have any stats upon which provides the best quality applications, but we get absolutely bombarded by them through the combo of the two you mentioned and these two. Generally the overall standard is pretty low, so I'd guess less than 5% are worth interviewing unfortunately.

When I was looking for work Jobsite was one of the best ones. Don't touch Monster though, they'll just spam anyone who they can find with any key words in their CV that match your job spec.
Also try the professional institutions, IMechE etc all have websites and trade mags that a lot of people read. If you're looking for new graduates try the universities, admittedly the worst time for it now but many have recruitment fairs in the spring.
Also worth hunting around LinkedIn, we hire in a clot of contractors and our recruiting bod finds a lot via linked in as there's always someone who went to uni or used to work with someone else we've hired and shows up on the links.

Def state of the market. We have recruitment consultancies working on site for us but they only appear to recruit more HR people?
We've resorted to taking on graduates and training them up OR getting staff to invite friends in and succesfull aplicants who get through probation net their friends £1000.

Before I forget, it might also be worth giving The Engineer (theengineer.co.uk) a try too, along with industry bodies as suggested by another poster.

Only by blocking their numbers and having your spam filter lose their e-mails. I still get calls from recruiters who've got my 3 year old CV and are wondering if I'm still looking for work.GrahamPM said:

There are a few CAD engineers on here and, depending on location, I might know a few guys.
