Bike carrier for Audi A1

Following the success of the Birmingham bike ride yesterday, where my family and I met up with a colleague and his family, others in the office are interested in joining us for future bike events.

One of my colleagues has an Audi A1 with no towbar or roof rack. Do you have any recommendations for a rack to hold 2 bikes securely (i.e won't fall off)? I'm guessing this is going to involve a strap-on (erm) type. Is that the only option.

Looking on roofbox.co.uk, they say you can't mount anything on the rear of the A1 because the tailgate might not be strong enough, so I've suggested she gets a roof rack and a pair of cycle carriers.
