Hi all,

I am seriously considering a 2.0JTDM Lusso in red with 50k on the clock as a daily runner. I have 2 main concerns I'm hoping you can help with:

1. Is the economy as bad as I have read (some places good though). I basically need to get close to 50mpg to make it viable, although obviously I will be driving properly some of the time!
My 60 mile round trip commute is in the flat fens, mainly at a steady 60mph going through a few villages at 30 etc. For reference I get about 31mpg in my Accord Type R (which is decent for this car) and about 64mpg in my girlfriends (1.6tdci fiesta). So it seems quite a good run.

2. Practicality, obviously the 159 isn't best in class by any means but is rear legroom decent enough and is the boot a good size to easily take a pram chassis and seat for my little one?

Thanks in advance, this is the only diesel which excites me so I hope it's possible!

We have that engine in our 159 ti sportwagon.
I reckon you'll see 45 mpg. We get 40ish about the doors, a bit more on a run but have never been near 50mpg over a tank.
Boot on the wagon is good for a pram & the back seat is ideal for our isofix recaro child seat.
Are you looking at a saloon or a wagon?

Not sure how much difference there is between the 2.0 and 1.9, but I can get 50mpg out of my 1.9 on a long run without much difficulty cruising at 70.
