Just people being lazy / different in referring to TVR. When said out loud, "tiv" is shorter than "Tee-vee-arrr". When written, its the same number of letters, so pretty pointless!

Of course TVR means either

Travels Very Rapidly

or

Total Vehicle Restoration

but we all know about Lotus don't we, don't think there is an acronym for going anywhere quickly!!

LOTUS : Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious!
If tiv were to be used in conection with my Lotus, it would probably stand for Tools InValuble, Toils In Vain or Trade In Very soon.

OT or O/T is "Off Topic" - ie. not car related in the context of this site.

NIP = "Notice of Intended Prosecution", which is the letter you get when you set off a speed camera inviting you to plead guilty and pay up or go to court and be prosecuted.

TIC = Taken In Context ?

Not seen it myself - Perhaps it could just be another form of TLA.

Cheers,
JSG.

Arrghh not an attack of the acronyms... I am currently doing some work for a company that exists completely on acronyms!! This is a real conversation that I had to have the other day:

"Hi, I am working on the TSI project for ITS as part of the DBO. Can you let me know what the PSO service SLA is for the FW's?"

I have yet to understand what they all mean....

Cheers,

Paul
