My Bro is cycling coast to coast off-road, starting tomorrow

From his FB:
Myself and 3 friends will be forging a defining line across Northern England. Over 3 days we will undertake a classic off road journey covering in the region of 190 miles from West coast to East coast. We will pass through the Lake District , the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. We will endure 6 - 8 hours in the saddle each day and face vicious ascents, screaming descents and no doubt experience sore bums!!.


He is doing this to raise funds for a Breast Cancer charity.
MODERATORS: I'm Not asking for anyone here to donate , I just wanted to post about it as I'm proud of him.

Hope he has fun. I did that as our Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition when I was 16 (or 17 perhaps?). Group of 5 of us, offroad from St Bees Head to Sunderland, carrying all our camping gear with us. Tough ride but good fun.

Good stuff, I was support crew for this years ago with the RAFCC. Great fun for me as I ragged a van around all day but hard work for the lads on bikes. Good luck to them!

Weather forecast not looking so good though

Good on him. I've done this before so understand the discomfort he'll experience.

A little suggestion providing he is finishing on Sunday: The Great North run is on this Sunday in Newcastle. If he sticks to the south of the River Tyne from the Newcastle's quayside I expect they'll get a nice experience of ending up in south shields amongst all the runners. Red arrows etc...

My biggest disapointment of the C2C (apart from looking up Hartside fromt he bottom!) is the Newcastle - North shields part (It is a dump) however starying north of the Tyne will avoid the crowds.

Edit to add: Seeing that you mention North yorkshire moors I expect he's taking an unusual route?

Anyone interested, they completed the route in three days as planned...had some terrible weather but enjoyed every mile of it.

They raised £1500 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer...to say I'm very proud is an understatement.
