Please talk me off the ledge
Discussion
I have a beautiful Reflex Charcoal Tuscan convertible that I have owned for a year. It's in perfect condition, only 9k miles, full history, it's the nuts (allbeit not fast enough) and whilst I haven't had it from new the condition / mileage is such that I feel I may as well have done. This is not an advert of sale btw.
The problem is in the year I've had it, I've done less than a 1000 miles! I try to drive it as often at the weekends as possible but i have a wife and a 9 year old which means that I rarely get the opportunity to enjoy it with them or even on my own for that matter. As such the thought of selling has been creeping into the inner reaches of my mind, those thoughts becoming more frequent as time goes on and the summer ends. I'm sure that I would regret it as to sell would be no more than a lifestyle choice as opposed to a financial one but then again having it sitting in the garage for most of the time certainly seems a waste (as we all know).
Please talk me off the ledge, convince me that keeping it is the sensible option. And the righ one.
Look forward to the voices of reason, having come to the right place for such comments.
Cheers

I all seriousness though, a TVR is the kind of car you need to make time for. You could use it for work occassionally, but if your commute is anything like mine it's fairly crap milage. I can leave early for quiet roads in but it's always busy coming back and hatchbacks litter every overtaking lane ruining any chance of some TVR acceleration.
How old is your child? As a Cerb driver I often take the wife and both kids out, but sometimes I just take my eldest daughter (3 years old) out with me with her childseat in the front next to me. It's good to get some father/daughter time too and gives my wife a break, whilst letting me enjoy the car too. Maybe something to try?

My two boy's think our TVR is the best thing since sliced bread, in fact they argue who gets to go in it - my youngest was 8 when we bought our Chim; replaced that 12mths ago with a Tuscan S.
Last year I was at the BNG with my older son who was 13 at the time, heading to Blackpool tomorrow with my younger lad (who will shortly be 12). Fortunately Mrs B also likes the marque.
The key to the whole thing for me is ensuring everyone in the family feels a part of the ownership....

Think of it as a piece of artwork: An original never to be repeated limited edition; likely to appreciate but even if it doesn't you can still enjoy looking at it and owning it; It's better than art because you can get in it and drive it when you want to; It can broker friendships; it can create memories; Maintaining it is a great hobby and stressbuster (mostly!)..... I could go on.....
It's British; What on earth would you replace it with etc...
Compared to the sh;te some people hang on their walls and the ammount they pay for it.....these cars are the bargain of the century.....well that's how i justify it to myself anyway....

Simple answer, use it more!
Tell the wife you'll do the weekend shop this week, and f
k off to tesco's two towns and 50 miles away, via some fun B-roads!
If I only drove mine when I had to to "go for a spin" for the sake of it, it wouldnt get much use either, using it for some of the job the normal daily hack would otherwise do and making a journey of what would otherwise be a chore makes it all worthwhile!
We get plenty of lovely, dry, crisp and sunny days in the winter, get a woolly hat and get the roof down!

Here we go again with the 'I don't use it much so I ought to sell it'. I just don't see the connection if you really love the car.
Now if you were to say that you don't use it because you don't like it as much as you thought you would and fancy a change then that is totally understandable.
