RE: Stoneleigh Show (Ultima)
Discussion
The bloke with the Ultima next to ''Baz'' or whatever his name is, was one of the rudest people I''ve had the misfortune to meet. I was reading an article in the owners club magazine on the way up to Stoneleigh (with an Ultima owner) about his car which sports a rear view video camera. When we commented on this to him (Ultima car club members being almost exclusively owners not just annoying anorak types) he replied "Oh, that must have been exciting for you" - what a grade ''A'' knob. I hope this isn''t indicative of all Ultima owners as I''m about to embark on building a GTR.

Can't comment on Mr Rear View Camera, but I had a chat with Baz's owner once, and he was a nice guy. Lovely interior on that one, all custom made, with production car console etc.
I suppose there are nice Ultimisti and nasty Ultimisti!
James is always pleasant to chat with on this forum, so that's 2 nice vs 1 nasty so far ;-)
To Stig. I logged on to this website for the first time today (30/4/02) to find out about Stoneleigh 2002 and was floored to read your comments about the "rude" guy with the Ultima parked next to Baz. That was me. Clearly something I said (or maybe the way I said it) caused offense and for this I sincerely apologise.
All I can say is that whatever offended you was said in all innocence. I am just not the sort of bloke to be offensive to anyone particularly fellow Kit Car enthusiasts. If you don't believe me ask Baz. I hope to be at Stoneleigh on Sunday 5th, so if you're there Stig, please come over and give me a chance to apologise properly.

Alan,
Apologies if my comments caused offence!
Man, that was a long time ago, although, at the time I was a bit offended by what I thought was a 'look-down-the-nose-attitude'. Probably unintentional by the sounds of it.
Having owned (and own) several TVR's, race a locost which I hand built and helped spanned a MKIV, I was a bit miffed at the time as a 'genuine' enthusiast who has the money, time, means to build a GTR and was/is genuinely interested in building one. I've just got my National A from my 10th race at Brands which was my orignial racing goal, so am now looking v.seriously at building a grade 'A' Ultima. Any advice you could give would be appreciated and in return, I'd be happy to show you how to drive it
Incidently, at a recent track day, I was in my 1300cc Locost vs. a 5.7L Ultima driven err.... 'with spirit', we were within 1/2 a second per lap!
Cheers
Stig
