TopGearTVR, Gifdy and myself did the TVRCC tack day at Cadwell Park and had a great time.
Very well organised, session approach worked for me and the car behaved impeccably, the weather held out and apart from a Westfield dumping a line of oil down the 2 straights and connecting fast corners (causing one Sagaris to do 3, yes 3 x 360 degree high speed pirouettes off on to the grass!!!) there were not too many interruptions.
Think i'll be purchasing me a skid lid of my own now ;-)

Great video ! Good to met you & Steve. We missed you both at the end but it was all a bit chaotic with that downpour.
We had a fantastic day. I think Cadwell is now up there as my favourite track with all the hills etc. Unfortunately my poor diff couldn't put up with the abuse and is now whining like a ba$***d. It started to go on that last session but we managed to limp home.
My mate Phil was so impressed with the day ( his first track day ) he's now scouring the classifieds for an S or a Chimaera ready for next year !

Was good to meet up yes, and if you got the downpour I encountered on my way home I feel I made the correct decision to bail the last session.
Was a terrific day and roll on next year.

People tend to think Cadwell is a bike track and not suitable for cars. I would think RACING cars would be hairy there, but track days are run under strict rules re overtaking, and it is actually a really fun circuit. Top speed becomes less important, the car's handling and the driver's skill at taking the right lines and carrying speed through the corners become far more important, and if you get the lines right it is very rewarding. Free instruction on the TVRCC track day was also very useful.I was shattered watching it, looks like a full on circuit and I can see why it's compared to the Nurburgring - The Ring looks straight in comparison!

Note made for next year
20 cars (per group) in 2.1 miles is one car every 180 yards, so as cars tend to bunch a bit anyway it is very easy to find lots of space on the track, and either just drive around with nothing in front of you, or working out how to catch and overtake the car in front. Track courtesy was excellent (as soon as one or two per group got used to the track and remembered what mirrors are for) and the speed differential between cars in each group made overtaking actually easier than you would think.
One tip - if this is your only track day of the year, you can have a lot of fun and no danger to the car if you remember you are not Jenson Hamilton. But if the Corsa-driving yoof in you is likely to surface, either beg steal or borrow some track tyres (888s and the like), or have a high pitched audible alarm in the passenger seat. Having said which, my audible alarm (on her first track day as my passenger) only emitted one sound, which was uncommonly similar to "Oh s
t" as i used a bit too much rumble strip on the exit of Park bend.SJS357 said:

It was a snap decision on Sunday night. I was having a great time at Carfest with my wife & daughter and had met a great bunch of people from the KG club. I decided to stay on there and have a few beers and a boogie to Jools Holland. yes looks a real fun track, very twisty, looks like you have to really work for each lap.

The fun for me would have been the drive up to S Club with other Ss but there seemed to be noone else for a convoy from down South.
Having seen the pictures I kind of regret not going, especially missing meeting up, but beer and a warm missus won over hairy arse S clubbers standing in a field ...... this time anyway
