VC10 at BAE Warton

My desk is directly under the approach of BAE Warton and a VC10 just swooped over about 2 minutes ago,such a gorgeous thing!

We get a 146 coming and going daily, Eurofighters almost daily along with a dark blue? Hawk and the odd Tornado and Hercules but since the Nimrods disappeared nothing as lovely as the VC10.

For anybody local who was thinking of seeing it,it just took off again, anyone care to guess why it turned round so quickly?

Probably the last time you'll see one...the 2 or 3 left in service have only a few weeks left before they are retired too.
Maybe it was a temp divert of the Vicky Ten that is enroute to Leuchars for the airshow tomorrow (final public show of a RAF VC10 IIRC) or perhaps a fault issue so divert into Warton or maybe even a farewell divert into Warton before retirement in a couple of weeks time.....?

A VC10 passed over the Manchester area on both Wednesday and Thursday nights last week.

A VC10 arrived at Newquay about a week ago, to be cared for by the Classic Air Force based there.

I miss the 146 doing the Farnborough shuttle. They've replaced it with an Embaraer 135 recently.

Is that a twin rear engined thing?
Weve been seeing one of them too recently either instead of or in addition to the 146.

A customer of ours who worked for Bae said the 146 goes to Germany daily,is that right?
