best place to get a set of 7 speed gears?

having just dug out my push bike out of the shed and tried to ride it, the chain slips off of the front cog, ok, get a new cog for the front and a chain guide as that has broken.

but i want to replace the gears at the back aswell as the chain.

its a 7 speed barracuda 'bike' but not a mountain bike.


anyone know where i can get a set of 7 speed gears for the back, the metal black thingy that tightens the chain and does 'stuff' is still in good nick though so that can stay.

preferably cheap-ish, but not too cheap.


im guessing by this point i know very little about push bikes apart how to ride them.

It is probably a freewheel rather than a cassette and freehub. So what you want is a 7 speed freewheel.

Amazon is where I got mine. Thought I needed a freewheel, when it arrived I'd ordered a cassette, oh no thought I!... Turns out it was a casette I needed after all

Have a look at your wheel, if there's a lock ring then it's a casette, if not then free wheel I believe

cheers, can you explain the difference in free wheel or cassette? the most i have done to fix a bike up is repair a puncture on an inner tube so dont really know much.

and what does a lock ring do? does it make the gears only turn when the wheel turns or something?

and the cog at the front, where the pedals attach, i need on of those too with a chain guide for the front so the chain doesn't keep falling off.

do barracuda bikes have a specific size front cog/pedal cog thingy as i have seen lots online, and they range from 50 quid to 500+ and would rather not pay a huge amount for them. but cannot find many with just the one cog where the pedals are.

i understand the questions are probably a bit stupid to people who know this sort of stuff, but i hope to actually learn something about bikes now.
