Im heading off to Cornwall in a couple of weeks time.
Havent been down there since last year and dont have a Morpheous to help me out.

Any new speed cameras to watch out for ???

I go the M4/ Hungerford / Stonehenge / A303 way.
Thinking about going across Exmoor - takes longer but I was hoping for some good roads ??

Anyone know ?

The A303 is laden with 'em.

there's the one where you've been following a lorry for three miles - there's a dual carriageway section going up a hill - top of the hill - GATSO.

All around Sparkford (Haynes Museum - worth a visit) is worth being *very* careful around.

Its getting so bad I am seriously considering a Geodesy/Bel 990.

Actually: You'll largely be OK if you stick to the limits in restricted areas (probably should anyway) and keep an eye out on the NSL sections.

I drove down the A30 to Launceston last weekend, don't think that camera is there anymore. There's one at Chicklade on the A303 Westbound if that's on your route, it's a 70 limit

This isn't going to be much help but...
... if you are going the 'top' road to Cornwall soon after you come off the M5 there is a camera convieniently hidden behind a road bridge on a straight downhill section.
Reminds me of a conversation I had with a petrol pump attendant there.
Me: How long to Truro?
Her: Ohhhh 'bout 45 mins
Me: Damn I have a dinner table booked for 20 mins time.
Her: Arrrrghhh. You should make it!

WTF!

theres a vauxhall omega that usually patrols the M5 anywhere from Bristol to Exeter. its a deep red, almost maroon colour, one of the 3 litre ones. nothing to tell you its a plod but i have seen it twice on the hard shoulder taking details from a car and once tucked into one of their little hidey-holes. even doing 85 he didnt stop me in the fiesta, must have thought his machine was faulty!

From what I remember A303 dual carriageway sections are OK - Near Yoevilton beware the one at the top of the hill after it goes from dual to single past the shell station, then its clear til you get to the Illminster Bypass (one just after the bridge on the lower section , after you go down the hill). Then IIRC its OK thru to Exeter, but watch on the new dualled section past Honiton - they can use the laybys for mobile tax cameras. and the limit drops to 40 at Exeter Airport - haven't seen any plod there before, but you never know......

A30 into Devon/Cornwall is reasonably clear - there is the one nr Okehampton, bottom of the hill, just after a bridge (easy to spot tho!) then its a straight blat all the way thru.. but watch the bridges - they sometimes sit on them watching the emits crawl past.

Best time to travel is after about 8 - roads are generally clear then. Personally I'd go M4/M5/A30 - quicker and easier, as the A303 can be a bugger with caravans....

Where are you going to and when - I'm down that way 2nd week in August....

Im goign down there around then as well.
Ill probably leave at 4:00am. Try and get some clear-ish roads. Leaving on a weeknight too so hopefully the traffic should be OK.
