Help : Interview test - Implement Salesforce campaign

Hello everyone, I am looking for some help / tips / pointers for an interview test.

I know this looks like asking for homework help, but I thought I would try.

Firstly, its for a marketing job, now I have lots of marketing experience, however the test is to prepare
a direct mailing campaign using Salesforce.

I've used lots of legacy CRM systems but not Salesforce.

1. How would you extract information (names/address) to pass to their external fulfillment company (which doesn't have access to the CRM)

2. How would you (easily) enter data from the fulfillment company to mark customers which have responded?

I can see there are a huge number of apps on the Salesforce Appexchange site to extend Salesforce.

Any help much appreciated.
