Just seen my first one one fly overhead

Sat in the living room and heard a loud plane going over, sounded different to the usual ones that fly over. Quickly went to the back door to have a look- it was a Vulcan bomber flying low . could of got a good photo or vid if I'd been quicker.
Im in Milton Keynes - where is it likely to be going you think (East direction roughly) ?

I remember being at an airshow where they barrel rolled it a couple of years ago. Quite an awesome sight bearing in mind it's pretty much the last flying example.

Where is it kept these days? Still Lyneham?

ETA: It wasn't barrel rolled, as below. My memory isn't working well today...

We had a low flypast yesterday which was a nice distraction whilst cooking on the BBQ.

One year the Vulcan came surprising low and slow directly over the house, it's an amazing sight.

Just had a Lancaster bomber flypast about 30mins ago as well.

Iirc the last Duxford showing was this year.

As far as I know a Vulcan was only ever barrel rolled at an airshow once - and that was at Farnborough in the 1950s.

The last flying example certainly isn't barrel rolled.

No - last year they stated that 2013 MIGHT be its last year. However, there is a chance now that she could be flown in 2014 as well.

The Vulcan was in Cambridgeshire this afternoon at 3:40 ish - then flew onto Dunsfold I think. Probably the last time I am going to see it unless they raise enough money for the work to be undertaken this winter.

Robin Hood Airport according to internets, but the internets could be wrong. Lyneham has now closed down.

She is based at the former RAF Finningley (now, as stated above, called Robin Hood Airport). There is a whole thread devoted to the Vulcan in the "Planes, Boats, Trains" forum if you want to keep up to speed on her movements and future prospects.

ETA: I watched the video of the Vulcan again, was at work when I first posted so didn't have access to it. I think it may have been a Hawker Hunter that did the barrel roll, or I'm thinking of another air show entirely. Did a few when I was still a cadet. Not even that long ago...
