Hello all,

my OH has a 2012 MINI one that needs a slight coolant top up, but the coolant is blue. Halfords have a red one for modern cars and a blue one for older cars but that's it. Is it something that needs to be bought from a MINI dealer?

As the car is still under warranty I'd probably be inclined to get some stuff from BMW, it would be Sod's law something goes wrong and they have non OE coolant to try and use as a get out.

Coolant is a service fluid. You can use anything you like in there as long as its the correct specification.

You can't use "anything you like" make sure you use the correct type. There is OAT and non OAT and mixing them will cause serious issues....

Which is why I said "as its the correct specification." i.e. there isn't a certain make that you have to stick to. There are loads of different coolants that will be compatible, as long as they are the right specification.
