So, my Hoy turned up this morning catching me off guard slightly, as I wasn't expecting it to be delivered until after the bank holiday.

I've broken my own rule and bought a black bike (so I'm a hypocrite, never mind wink)

It needs a bit of colour and thought, as I have the weekend to browse I might as well ask some strangers on the internet for their opinion smile

I was thinking about trying to match the red or blue detailing with bottle cages, maybe some chainring bolts or headset spacers Once I've fettled the stem height)

Give me your thoughts. Budget is err... budget

Nope - don't 'gay' it up with colour yikes

To me, it looks bithcin' and cool and stealth as it is, like an SR-71 Blackbird.

Leave it as it is!!!

And if you were even THINKING it - step AWAY from the coloured tyres....

Just get rid of the HUGE wheel reflectors and it'll look fine as it is.

Ha, the reflectors have already gone, that picture was about 15 minutes after unpacking it smile

Coloured tyres were never on the agenda.

Looks fine as it is. If you can restrain yourself and do a tiny bit of colour matching such as cage bolts it should look good, but most people go crazy and end up ruining the look.

I'm in the same boat. Kinda tempted by some red as mine is black-on-black and may benefit from it. Red grip tape, red bottle cage is literally all I'm thinking.

While its an MTB, not a road bike, I have a very black steed with a few wee flourishes of red; cassette spider, mowa valve caps, some other bits. Works quite well I think.

The more I look at it, I'm thinking match the bottle cage to the small section of silver on the top tube and use brushed alloy/stainless cages. I prefer the thin old school lines of wire over the modern types of cages.

Then some little bits like a coloured top cap or valve caps.

I'm certainly falling into the less-is-more camp.

As for the black magic, there's a small prop under the back pedal, but the angle hides it.

I definitely have the MTB version of what you mean! Swapped over-shaped alu frame for steel, carbon cage for SS, etc and made it a MUCH better bike!

i think it would suit some red tyres and bottle cage and that would be about it..Nice bike and 105 is decent kit to start off with.

Agree with the subtle approach.

Metallic gunmetal grey cages, bar tape, stem and spacers to match your headtube - check ebay.
