So on Tuesday on the way home from work i get knocked off my bike - the joys of commuting in a busy city......i'm ok but my front wheel is wrecked. The car driver was massively apologetic and has paid for my new wheel - all good.

Ordered online, delivered this morning - i'm not at work so great, FP1 on the TV - tool kit out.........

Where did centre lock brake disks come from? what the hell was wrong with the 6 bolt fitting? - now I have a new wheel with a 6 bolt hub, and a centre lock brake disk........what on earth is the point? what can the possible advantage be?.....i've only had the bike a month or so have never looked at the brakes close enough to notice......when i ordered the wheel there wasn't a choice of front hub..........

Shimano's idea. A little lighter, centres a little better, simpler/quicker installation and no Torx bolt heads to chew.

Or 26"/ 29" /650b wheels all of which are competing to become or remain the MTB standard.

Now that is farcical! Just as the 26"/29" thing seems to settle...BAM! Everyone suddenly starts rushing out 650b, with the marketing bods touting it "27.5" to lure people who can't decide between 26" or 29".
