Dunlop and PistonHeads at Britcar 1000km

Join us for a very special weekend of activities at Silverstone

PistonHeads has teamed up with Dunlop and Britcar to offer PHers a great weekend at the Britcar Silverstone 1000km, taking place on September 20-22 alongside the fantastic 1st-Tickets PH campsite previously announced.

On Saturday PHers can enjoy an exclusive Dunlop Tyre Talk taking place in the Dunlop fitting area situated in the paddock, where attendees can have a look around behind the scenes. We will run three talk sessions throughout the day and each session can hold up to 100 people. Pre-booking is essential. Each talk will last around 20 - 30 mins and will contain Q&A sessions with race drivers and Dunlop personnel to give some context to the motorsport side of Dunlop and how tyre choice can have a dramatic effect on race results.

Session times are as follows: 1100h, 1200h and 1300h. These will take place in the Dunlop fitting area in the paddocks. To book your space simply head to the Dunlop Live area on Saturday and sign up accordingly with the Dunlop team

In addition we will offer access to the Dunlop Live Area where four Hondas, two fitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx RT and two fitted with a budget competitor tyre will complete a half wet and half dry circuit lap to demonstrate how tyre performance can differ. PHers will be able to claim passenger rides to experience this first hand. The test drivers will complete a slalom in the dry followed a stopping distance test in the wet. The demonstration area will be fully interactive with Dunlop PlayStations and Cafe Dunlop situated alongside. Drivers from the above mentioned Q&A will also be based in Cafe Dunlop for further discussion and insight.

We can accommodate between 20 and 25 people every 30 minutes and all PHers will need to register/sign on in Cafe Dunlop to book their timeslot.

The Dunlop Live area which is behind the paddock and close to the parking will be open from 1000h – 1700h and we’ll operate sessions every 30min for around 20 - 25 people per session.

Sunday sees a very special Sunday Service event taking place, and while the format is slightly different in that a race ticket needs to be purchased, the attractions on offer make the outlay worth the expenditure.

PHers will arrive at the main circuit entrance for 0800h to be guided to the Sunday Service area located near the Dunlop area close to the pitlane that can hold 300 cars.

To gain entry PHers will need to display a special PistonHeads entry ticket priced at £20 which allows entry for two adults, with Children under 15 admitted for free

Tickets can be bought here

The normal Sunday Service format will apply with breakfast available and the chance to wander around the wide and varied collection of PHers' cars on display.

In addition the Dunlop attractions listed above will be exclusively available to those attending the Sunday Service (with sign-up available within the Sunday Service area)

Q&A Sessions will run at 1100h, 1300h and 1400h taking place in the Dunlop fitting area next to the paddocks with each session lasting around 20 minutes

The Dunlop Live area will open between 1100h – 1800h located behind the paddock and close to the parking will operate sessions every 30 mins for around 20 - 25 people per session depending on take up.

If that wasn't enough, EVERY car parked in the Sunday Service area will be ushered onto the track at 0930h to complete a special PH parade lap between race events for the assembled crowds. We will be under safety car guidance but this is a great opportunity for us to complete a lap of Silverstone in front of a racing crowd. Note that the track activity starts at 0930h so you will need to have arrived and parked within the Sunday Service area by this time. We will not wait for latecomers as our circuit time is fixed.

All participants will need to sign an indemnity form (which will be mailed to you nearer the time) ready to present it on the day. Cars can carry passengers as long as they have a proper belted seat in the car. All PHers' cars are welcome, and be aware that we will be undertaking a slow speed lap so no previous track experience is required.

Once you have bought your ticket, sign up on the events calendar here.

Just to confirm... If I order one ticket, two adults can get in. Because if I ask for 2 tickets, price doubles to £40.

What about PH'ers that have already bought tickets for this event, can we park up with the other PH'ers and take part in the parade lap?

1 ticket includes 2 adults but in 1 car, correct? I would assume so, but just confirming!

If you have purchased a Saturday weekend ticket already, you may still attend the Sunday Service. All you need to do is add your name to the event calendar as linked in the article so we can manage numbers.

We'd also suggest you sign up for the Dunlop activities on the Sunday to get ahead of the crowds arriving for the Sunday meet.

My Insurance Co won't cover me for this slow parade lap. Therefore can I arrive, park in the PH Sunday Service area, but not go on track? I've bought my ticket.

I ask as PH statement says 'EVERY' car will go out on the parade lap. If I turn up will I be put in PH area, or sent to other public areas please?

Nothing should happen, but after seeing what happened at the LM Classic last year (I know this is a lot slower/more controlled), I'm always wary of accidents caused by others.

Thanks,
T

We won't force you smile

But to assure others there will be 'pace' cars every five rows or so ensuring we keep things slow in addition to trackside marshals and whatnot. In addition, you'll be representing PH so we expect a level of decency from everyone who rolls onto the track.

My ticket has arrived with PH sticker. There's nothing in the supporting info to say whether it allows entry for one or two people.

Garlick, please can you confirm

My pack arrived and includes a pistonheads pass and 1 entry ticket. Will this get me and my passenger in?

Same question here, my pack arrived but there was only 1 ticket. Will this allow 2 people in or will my passenger have to hide in the boot?

I've just bought a ticket for the SS. The indemnity form says no under 16yr olds allowed in pit lane, does this mean they can't go out on the parade lap or are they ok as long as they stay in the car?
