After a brief alteraction with a kerb, verge, hedge and finally back to the tarmac (upside down), I have re-joined the pedestrian classes and my beloved Impreza has gone to the big scrapyard in the sky.

Damn

The good news is I live to drive another day, although a nasty insurance premium will probably preclude any form of performance transport for while. Ah well, time to pay off a bit more of the mortgage then!

Its cr@p isn't it mate. I had a similar experience on thursday evening, although not as bad by the sound of things. The main thing is though that you're OK.

I had to go to Sainsburys on my bike on Friday. I'd forgotton how hard cycling is! I'm now looking for a very cheap car that is group 1 insurance.

Matt
and no Fiesta.

Hi Andy,

Sorry about the altercation!!

I'm just beginning to bump into more of 'you types' at the odd motorway service station and you're not all that bad!!!

Hope you're sorted soon..

Thanks all!

Yeah, a combination or rain, diesel on the road and driver error. If I was a cat, I'd 8 of them left by now. Saw your post from earlier this week Matt, sorry to hear about the Fezzer. I suspect I'll driving a Clio diesel or similar after I talk to the insurance company... ah well!

It was a reasonably spectacular accident though, if you're going to do a job and all that. It was a very good advert for subaru, the shell was pretty much intact and after crawling out through the window, I've escaped with just cuts 'n' bruises. Lucky boy!

See you all at the next meet on my pushbike

Hope you have better luck than me in getting insured. Just tried a Fiat Panda (Group 1) third part only, 500 excess, limited to 1000 miles, worth £300. 2 fcukin grand. I'm a bit pissed off. CU at PH4. It's at Clumber, right? I'll set off tomorrow on my rollerskates.

Matt.

Had my off-road excursion this time last year, similar conditions (long dry spell + burst of rain = greasy roads). Glad you're OK though.

A friend of mine banjo'd his scooby a while back. They usually stick to the black stuff like shit to a blanket, but when they go....

AHHHHH!!!! The old rain deisel reason. Heard it hundreds of times. Strange that some of them (reasons have been when it was dry) At least you coughed the driver error. Hat off to you. Many don't.

If it makes anybody feel any better, a mate managed to SPIN his Smart Car on the M25 - M23 slip road on Sunday!!!!
It was wet and diesel is a serious suspect. He was lucky though, he was only going slow & got away with minor panel damage. Oh, and there interchangable, so he may come out of it with what looks like a new car.

Come on, Paul!
It's not the driver, it's not the road, it's the car!

Well, the corner of the road had that lovely multi colour effect, but if I hadn't been going so rapidly (still within the NSL) then I wouldn't have spun and flipped quite so spectactularly. I probably didn't handle the initial spin quite so well either. Off to Don Palmer for some training for next time
