Looking to store my road bike either on the garage wall or from the ceiling.

What do you use to hang/mount yours?

It depends what the frame material is but I have a few bike racks in the garage, screwed into the floor and they all sit in there as I have no car in the garage. Most bikes have a fairly thin top tube in comparison to the rest of the tubes so I wouldnt recommed hanging a bike from the ceiling using straps around the top tube although I'd assume that many people do and stress cracks are very rare.

I guess it depends if you really need them off the ground or not. If you mount it on the wall using a support around the top tube, it wouldnt hurt to use a method of supporting the weight using the wheels too.

A friend has loads of loops of thin climbing cord hanging from his garage roof, each one at the perfect height to slip under the saddle of the appropriate bike and taut enough to keep each bike upright....

In my bedroom, on the floor, leaning against the wall. How else?

I thought the default location of bikes was in the kitchen? That's where everyone on here seems to photograph them?

I got a few of these:

Alternate each bike between hanging by the front or back wheel and they can be stored close together. It does mean they stick out quite far but takes up less horizontal space on the walls.

My old (1993) and new (2012) MTB's hang from the joist by their seat (seat on top of the joist) Wife and daughter's bikes stand on the floor overlapping so they take up as little space as possible. There is also a little BMX hanging from the joists ready for when my youngest is big enough to ride it. Then there are spare wheels, tyres, frames and other assorted bits haging from other joists.

Space is at a premium in my garage and as the n+1 seems to be kicking in I need to look at a better arrangement.

All mine hang off the front wheels from hooks in the shed wall. Real space saver.

The nice bike lives in the spare room, in the built in wardrobe during the winter and just in the spare room during the summer hehe

The single speed and mountain bike live in the shed frown

In the utility room, much to the disgruntlment of my housemates.

When I move into my flat there is a bike store for the commuter and MTB and the decent bike will live in the flat on the wall.

Two of these for each bike screwed to the garage wall at just the right height and width to neatly support the top tube.

I'm with you there! I don't think it will 'bend' the rim over a period of time as I'm sure my weight (on the rim when I ride) is much more than the bikes weight (when it is stored), even if it is concentrated in one spot!

My best bike hangs by its rear wheel on a hook screwed into the joist across my living room.

The work bike lives in works boat shed.

The project bike is currently on the workstand in the living room overhanging the sofa. I haven't figured out where I'm going to store it once its finished. Maybe over the sofa.

Sometimes it's a good job I'm single!

Roadie is in the Hallway so it easy to wheel out to work. It does Pee the wife off a bit though, i see it as a compromise - i took the Lambretta out of the dining room smile
