The cable that is responsible for the slide function which is secondary to the tilt function has frayed and snapped due to a heavy-handed (stupid prick) work collegue.

You can see the cable and sheath in this diagram;

Has anyone had any experience with replacing this cable? If so, is it difficult to do? Can the cable alone be replaced?

Not a particularly dificult job for someone that is a bit mechanicly minded, the cable is not available seperatly from a dealer as it comes as part of the runner (about 200 quid). but if u have time to go to a scrap yard, it is posible to remove the cable, bit more fiddley but a lot cheaper

Well that's annoying. Yeah, I could do it the cheaper way but then that means faffing around trying to find the part, whipping it all around in the car park outside the flat trying to sort it all out and using plenty of time in the process too no doubt.

I might just bill the colleague. rolleyes

Thanks for your input matey.
