My First Flight! (With video)
Discussion
Great stuff!
Didn't realise a first lesson would get you so much control time. My only time up in something so small was in a client's Auster on a flight from near Gatwick to the Isle of Wight. I got the yoke for a few minutes, and immediately thought I was Biggles.
No video of the landing?
(And you missus is clearly a keeper, and I need to leave the laptop with this page showing at home for a few days until mine gets the hint.)

Congrats. The bug will bite now though, be warned.
I went to Melbourne last year and did an hour's flight our of Moorabbin and it was fabulous. Much better than flying in the UK.
Edit: pics here (and video of the landing if you scroll down the thread)

Very cool! Get back up fast. Before you know it, you'll be flying solo. Now that's a legendary feeling...
After that, it starts getting expensive. Before long, you'll want one of THESEThat one's named after Mrs JW911. Sadly by coincidence only.

That way, you can fly me to the Toffstock weekend, I get to leer at the uber-posh tot but not drink beer, you drink beer but not leer at the tot (no...really), then I fly us home..or into that damn great oak tree next to the runway. Pretty much like this year, but with a Merlin as opposed an Ivchenko.
Matt, bless him, almost *never* gets to fly at the weekend, so PROB 90 no booking conflict....apart from the obvious standing 'Ground Frost In Hell Before Bob Gets To Fly It" mandate.

Edited: ...and well done Nev....nice piccies!

The important thing to note is that when Matt gets his P-51 it *has* to have the jumpseat conversion.

I have a great idea. If you can land it (and more importantly, stop it!!!
) at Toffstock, you can drink the beer and I'll fly home.
There was a certain nonchalance involved with oak tree moment if I remember correctly.
You: Whooah, tree!
Me: Oh yeah, there it goes....

Yup.
I've now got it loaded up on FSX, with a downloaded Cessna 152 so I can re-create my flight!
Look after some of the aeroplanes down the other end of the airport with RFDS on the tail but only outside about 200nm Perth. There are a few others we deal with too, the metros and the baby jets that live down there too. With my anorak on, might have spoken to the aeroplane hidden behind the wing a long time ago, looks like VH-PNT, a Partenavia. I know a few of the Perth Approach people but not many down at Jandakot. I am guessing you were flying from the Royal Aero Club?
People don't believe you when you tell them flying a light aircraft is easy, in reality the hard bits are the radio, navigation & making it all work together while flying smoothly. Great fun, and even though I have been involved in aviation for 16 years now, it still amazes me when you ease the stick back, the aircraft that has been ratting down the Tarmac gracefully leaps into nothing but thin air!
You are a lucky man living over there, flying in the uk is very expensive & very weather dependant for us mere PPLs! Hoping to see a few more posts from you in the near future of your next flights!
