Pop pop pop, bang bang bang... new cans!
Discussion
I've got standard cans, and whilst they are handy for a nice sedate cruise I was horribly shown up by a chap on a rather nice triumph bike today... needs fixing ASAP!
I've given up on getting a whole large bore system, decats and the rest, too much of a pain and MOT time would be a nightmare.
I dont like the look of the ACT cans, the weld down the middle does them no favours.
I was going to sleeve my own or buy some second hand standard ones, but by the time I've faffed around, ordered the wrong bits twice because I'm a plank and knowing my luck broken the cans I'm trying to modify I'd be better off just biting the bullet and shell out on some decent ones...

Anyone got some of these? keep the standard look which I'm liking a lot...
I had CCC's on my old Tuscan, which were great.. I'm assuming these should be about the same?
Cheers
Dave

I don't know if these are any good to you Dave? They look like they're in good condition and it might save you a £100-150 if you have a bid

These seem to be the original standard cans, not the loud ones. Those in the previous link are the good onesI don't know if these are any good to you Dave? They look like they're in good condition and it might save you a £100-150 if you have a bid

Haha "the good ones"
I think it was a suggestion to DIY sleeve them and save a few bob.
The bidding is well over 100+ delivery for them now. Not worth it for the minimal saving I'd make.
Going to order some of those shiny new ones, if the consensus is that they make all the right noises.
Insurance + MOT = cant be arsed with decat...
Putting the things back each year would be a real pain.
I'm super cautious with insurance and if the wording in the policy says something like "car must be capable of passing an MOT" then whipping the cats out 5 minutes after passing the test would probably invalidate the insurance.

Dave, if you can get your std cans off you can try my powertech cans. with S being decatted it was too loud and harsh for me so they were taken off after about 200 miles!! Plus I'm only in Didcot! Matt tried to take his cans off though and couldn't get one off! some heat may be required!!

Okey dokey, I will get rummaging around to see if I can get them off! Thank you!
Ok mate, well give me a text when you do manage it! You're more than welcome to try mine to see if it gives the audible noise you're after! Be careful doing the o/s one as I think the last owner managed to work a screw driver through the actual exhaust! Hence he pushed the pipe on as far as it would go with a load of gum to cover it up.

Don't write off sleeving the ones you have. An hour's work, all you need is 1m of 51mm (2") O/D thinwall stainless tube (google it, loads of suppliers), a hacksaw, file and a 13mm spanner! And it's reversible. All the pops and bangs you want.Haha, I'm too nervous to go near the thing now! Can't afford a new exhaust section this month! I've somehow managed to get three cars with their tax all needing renewing in the same month! £800 in one hit! Ouchie!
I will gingerly give the can a prod on Friday if my day off work materialises.

I have some inserts if you want to try them. I am not far from you.I will gingerly give the can a prod on Friday if my day off work materialises.
Thank you very much for the kind offers.
Unfortunately the day off work never happened and with the other jobs I had to do this morning and working this afternoon I never got around to taking a peek underneath...
Probably wont have a chance for ages now...
Bit nervous about the potential problem with one of the back pipes mentioned by toady too so may just live with it as is until I've got spare cash to replace the section if that's what's needed.
Cheers
