Next month I have a few days off and im heading down to the Chorges area in the south of France so I can do the Col du Galiber and the Col de la Bonette amoungst other roads.

The current plan is...

Day 1 - Arrive in Nice just before lunchtime, relax on the beach (weather permitting), before cruising up to Chorges.

Day 2 - My current route is the following and im trying to keep the milage fairly relaxed

Day 3 - The route is this, before heading down to somewhere near Nice Airport, ready for the flight home the next morning.

Just wondering if there was anything people would change or any other must do sections while I am there.

Cheers beer

Looks good. You can't go far wrong around there really.

The decent of the Col du Lauteret through LaGrave isn't that good. Too busy with trucks and campers. I'd turn left after going down the Telegraph and then go over the Col du Glandon. That would mean onlt doing the Telegraph and Galibier one way though.

Hmm decisions, decisions. Really dont want to be dealing with loads of slow traffic, but would like to go over the Galiber more than once ideally. I shall take it into consideration and see how it goes on the day. Cheers for the suggestion smile

Be sure to go to the top of the Galibier and not through the tunnel. There's a few more hairpins and a great view.

You could always turn around at the cafe halfway down, go back up to the top (the best section) and then down and around to the Glandon. What car will yoube in? The Glandon is narrow and twisty.

Im playing the hire car lottery so it will be some kind of small hatch like a Fiesta or a Polo! Hopefully what ever I get will have some power left by the time I get to the top of the Bonette!

Good suggestion about doing part of the Galiber again. I just want to get out there now and get driving!

Just to wet your appetite, this was the section of the Galibier I suggested you turn around and do again...
