What a complete pain in the arse
Discussion
about 3 weeks ago i changed tyres as my old ones were shot.
400 miles on the new tyres (Vredstein Fortezza TriComp Slicks - not cheap!) I get a puncture. Put in new tube and i get a pinch flat FFS. Fixed and all ok - 200 miles later I do a ride today and don't notice anything on the ride. Come back to the bike to wipe the chain down and notice rear tyre flat. Balls. Replace tube to find a 2cm slit in the tyre - innertube pokes through and bursts. f
k sake. Tyre needs binning by the looks of it.
So - I have no "summer" tyres left so just until another couple of days i think i'll put my new winter tyres on (Vittoria Open Pave CG - again, a £50 tyre) and use it for 1-2 rides before putting it away for winter.
Put in brand new tube and it won't pump up.....valve is broken. Great.
So, countless bloody innertubes later It's finally sorted but running a "winter" tyre on the rear....i must say the Vittoria looks hard as nails. But I really don't want to use this until at least October If I can.
just out of curiosity - any rough ideas as to how much slower i could expect to be on the vittorias compared to the tricomps? i've ordered a couple of tricomps (not slick ones this time) so will fit those ASAP when they arrive to keep the vittoria good for winter.
not a happy bunny.

this might help, whenever i got a puncture which was often till i changed to a tougher tyre, i occasionally broke the valve / tyre join as i used my mountain bike pump.
then i got one of those pumps that you screw the hose into the end and that is much more flexible and gentle and i dont break the valve/tyre join now. :-)

Is it just me who thought this thread would be about saddles?
