Guys,
back into the MTB scene after many years away, just bought a Trek 6500 and it came with schrader valves, i bought some presta tubes but the holes in the wheel wont allow fitment, I can never get the tyres hard enough on the hand pump with schraders, is there any advantage to schraders as im at the point of changing rims?

thanks

Depends on the hand pump and the hands in question, but a decent track pump is so much easier.

Snap, I have a Trek 6500 (2012) but mine came with presta valves in the Bontrager rims.

Surely though, if it has schrader valves now then as presta are narrower then they should fit in the rim hole.

Is the rim wide enough for you to redrill the hole to accept the "proper" type of valve?
