I'm going to Ireland next week and need to get some euros. I'm only taking €50 as my work are converting everything, I just want to be covered just in case I need some money.

When I get back to the UK, if I still have any euros left, I am assuming that I will lose out a little?

Cheers

If your only converting €50, Just go to Tesco or Asda and get it smile If you get it from Tesco, you can change it back again commission free if you have any left over smile

For larger amounts the small exchange booths in the larger cities are best. There is s post office with Travelex bureau outside my office in London. Last time I bought my holiday cash for skiing they were offering 1.11. The corner shop 80 yards away offered 1.18. No brainer - the extra I made changing £500 paid for a half decent dinner.

Just use your cash card when you get there. By the time you've got into town to get to the Bureau de Change you'll have already spent more money on petrol, parking or a bus ticket than you'll save on the exchange rate and fees.

Yeh second what has been said above, use your credit card, usually get no extra charges (check though), and the visa exchange rate is pretty good, usually about 0.02% above what you get offered in the high street.
