Had to google them, and they look like nice pieces of kit. I'm looking for solutions (rather than a rucksack) for a short tour a group of us are doing in September (3 days two nights) traveling light.

I can't see your saddle rails being an issue unless they are some super light weight fancy dangle ones. Remember they take your bodyweight so have to be strong.

i have a neslon longflap on my commuter bike.

i bought it a couple of years ago and have used it daily for my commute carrying a laptop, wet weather gear, towels, shirts, trousers etc (not all in one go obviously). it is a perfect solution for that. the mount that attaches to your saddle rails is perfectly strong and can handle upto 10kgs.

i have also used it for a ride to okehampton (about 200 miles from where i live). two day ride with an overnight stop and i carried everything i needed for that - so a 3 days 2 night stop would not be a problem for you.

the material is completely waterproof and there are 2 very handy side pockets. i thoroughly recommend them. they look great and are very practical

Should be OK if you're not using a saddle with light titanium rails or a light carbon post. You will probably need to buy the 'cycle loops' for a modern saddle and I imagine the Bagman support would be good too.

As an alternative can I suggest a 13 litre Cadet teamed with either a Zipped Roll (actually 4 litres) or 9 litre Junior mounted as a bar bag? Narrower load, more balanced handling and you may get much more regular use from a choice of two smaller bags over one large one.

used a bagman and nelson longflap for years. no rail or post (carbon and alu) problems. They are huge, and tempt you to carry too much. recently switched to an ortlieb 2.5ltr, which forces me to think about what I need to carry, and stops my wife bothering me to pick up shopping on the way home from work. seriously, the longflap can carry a ridiculous amount - you could go camping for a week with it. do you need that much capacity?

for the record, spd sandals are tqh awesome for avoiding black toenails on extremely long rides, even at the cost of the abuse from the lightweights (as you drop on the hills).
