Today was a good day
Discussion
I must admit it started off a bit ordinary. Daughter cribbing about school, usual BS at work but then I had two emails that promised good times. One about a dream job, second interview, madly keen, they want to talk money....and more importantly 'do you fancy a ride with David Millar tonight?'

Total gent. Held the same pace as the chaingang and when he hit a monster hole that almost had me off didn't flinch. Up the final climb he was pulling 53 and mid cassette (QXL's) and barely breaking sweat up against our serious climbers who were on the rivet
He signed everything that was put in front of him (me included) and posed for pictures time and time again.

king good day. Where's the 'like' button? Great stuff and you are only just down the road from me (Marlow - Marlow Riders). Isn't it amazing when you (or your best chaps) are busting a gut and the pro's just cycle by as if they are on their way to the shops! In a way disheartening but in a greater way inspiring! All you have to do is keep up! So why was David Millar out with the High Wycombe mob? More story please!
Yeh think he started there.
Its a nice touch. Dowsett often does his local club ten too, I think some people just love riding bikes regardless of how high up they have got, fair play.
Though I did have to laugh at how many clothes he was wearing, I reckon sometimes its the way to decide who is MOST pro by how many clothes you can wear, leg warmers and overshoes he had on LOL!

Very cool, I'm a big fan of Mr Millar.
Did some of the club's faster boys try to show off? Apparently a load of the guys in a club local to me rode the wheels off everyone else the one time that Laura Trott was out with them
The motivation is somewhat...different...with david I would have thought. 'Laura...Laura...look at me....LAURA!' Did some of the club's faster boys try to show off? Apparently a load of the guys in a club local to me rode the wheels off everyone else the one time that Laura Trott was out with them

Top work OP - Most jealous

He was a former junior and now lifetime member of the club. Our Club President is well regarded and has coached Stuart Dangerfield, Nicole Cooke, Sue Clarke, Peter Keen and a host of others. A few years back David Millar came down to the local Longwick course which is a grippy circuit compared to some and set 19:04, anything sub 21 is bloody going some! So whilst I was stuck in traffic on Tuesday headed to Thruxton I had a call. 'David Millar - Garmin is on the start sheet he's just setting off now'. I was gutted to have missed it. On a road bike with no aero gear he managed 21:18...or to put it another way just under a minute faster than me on the foil in full kit!!

Not at all. We've had a few riders step up into the faster group so the last few have held back a bit so as to keep them on. Last night was brisk but not all out, about 39K av with a couple of lumps, faster sessions where people get shelled out would typically be 40-42K av. It was deadly quiet on the ride, I think everyone was in awe of the bloke tbh and were desperate to not do something stupid haha. Anyone attacking would have been laughed at, I mean if you cant enjoy a sunny evening out with a pro rider without showing off you're missing the point really?Did some of the club's faster boys try to show off? Regret not going out last night and taking #39. I wonder how much more effort I'd have put in to try and keep him behind, could have been my 21 something lol.
Anyway back to being an average 3rd Cat

Ha, I have ridden with Garmin on several occasions, once with Wiggins and the amount of idiots who tried to ride off the front to show how quick they were was ridiculous. I remember one lad on a tri bike who looks like a total dick. Personally I just sat in and enjoyed chatting with him, Chris Sutton etc.Did some of the club's faster boys try to show off?
