RS Reverb Dropper or A N Other
Discussion
Following a recent frame upgrade, I'm now in the market for a new dropper seat post (Not keen on running the previous one long term with a shim). I am tempted by the Reverb, currently on sale at £180 from On-One, it seems to get some good reviews but is it as good as the testers suggest, is there anything else on the market that is better?
I still think £180 is a lot for a seat post but having had one already (KS Supernatural 27.2mm) a dropper is something that I don't think I could live without...

Reverb is a lot of money - and took lot of time before I parted with my hard earned.
Used mine for a year on hard tail, then 6 months ago bought one for full suspension bike. 19 months in am happy.
There may(?)be better brands/designs on market, but I'm happy.
When at top of hill/hazard easy to manually lower a seat post, but in truth when you no longer need it low you never stop to raise seat again - Reverb (or similar like) solve this. If I have travelled long way to start bike ride, it's nice having the bike seat at right height.
Vertical stability solid - have not had any problem - very pleased.
Horizontal stability - on the bike have not noticed movements - however holding saddle by hand can see there is Slight movement horizonally. Reverb is a circular pole, with a circular inner moving pole.
Have seen some other brands, that have the moving inner pole, that is oval (or at least flattened sides) in shape - to discourage any horizontal twisting.
Hope this helps

Sorry - did see that after I'd postedlestershaw said:
I don't think shims really work that well and one of the frames I bought was an expensive titanium and I wanted to make sure the post went in a long way. And sometimes you can't get the shim or the post out.
Fair enough. I've used one for the past 6 years and it has been absolutely fine, but that's on an alloy frame.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
